About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on and experienced Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management (D365 F&SCM) Developer with 5–7 years of experience in development, customization, technical support, system administration, and application maintenance.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining D365 F&SCM solutions, supporting day-to-day application operations, implementing enhancements, troubleshooting production issues, managing deployments/code moves, and ensuring the overall stability and performance of the D365 environment.
The role requires close collaboration with Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, Business/Product Owners, Functional Consultants, IT teams, and external implementation/support partners to translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions. The candidate should have strong hands-on experience in X++, D365 F&SCM extensions, integrations, reporting, workflows, data entities, troubleshooting, and application lifecycle management, along with a good understanding of D365 security and administration.
Key Responsibilities
1. D365 F&SCM Development & Customization
- Design, develop, customize, and maintain solutions within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management.
- Develop and maintain X++ code, classes, tables, forms, extensions, data entities, queries, menu items, workflows, and other D365 components.
- Follow Microsoft-recommended development standards and ensure customizations are upgrade-friendly.
- Analyze business requirements and technical specifications and convert them into effective D365 solutions.
- Perform impact analysis for new requirements, enhancements, fixes, and system changes.
- Review existing customizations and identify opportunities for simplification, optimization, and technical improvements.
2. Reports, Workflows & Integrations
- Develop and maintain SSRS reports, electronic reporting solutions, and other D365 reporting components as required.
- Develop, configure, and support D365 workflows in collaboration with functional teams.
- Develop and support integrations between D365 F&SCM and external applications using appropriate technologies and integration frameworks.
- Work with Data Entities, Data Management Framework (DMF), OData, APIs, and other integration mechanisms.
- Troubleshoot integration failures and coordinate with external application owners where required.
3. Production Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide L2/L3 technical support for D365 F&SCM application issues.
- Investigate and resolve production incidents, system errors, batch failures, integration issues, and performance-related problems.
- Analyze application logs, error messages, database queries, and technical traces to identify root causes.
- Coordinate with Functional Consultants and Business/Product Owners to understand and resolve technical issues and appropriately documented.
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent fixes to prevent recurring issues.
4. System Administration & Security
- Monitor and support day-to-day administration of the D365 F&SCM application.
- Monitor and support users, security roles, duties, privileges, and access requirements in coordination with appropriate stakeholders and functional consultant.
- Assist with security reviews and ensure access follows organizational security policies and best practices.
- Monitor application health and identify potential technical or performance issues.
- Support batch jobs, batch groups, system processes, and other routine application housekeeping activities.
- Assist with environment management and coordinate with infrastructure/cloud teams when required.
5. Deployments, Code Moves & Change Management
- Manage and support development-to-test and test-to-production code deployments/code moves in accordance with established change-management processes.
- Work with Azure DevOps for source control, builds, deployment, work items, and release management.
- Prepare deployment packages and technical documentation as required.
- Support regression testing and post-deployment validation.
- Investigate and resolve deployment-related issues.
- Follow proper change-control, release, and rollback procedures.
6. System Upgrades & Microsoft Updates
- Assist and Support D365 F&SCM application updates, platform updates, hotfixes, and version upgrades.
- Assess the technical impact of Microsoft updates on existing customizations and integrations.
- Perform necessary development changes, testing, and remediation activities following updates.
- Participate in upgrade planning, testing, deployment, and post-upgrade validation.
- Stay current with Microsoft D365 F&SCM product updates, deprecated features, and recommended development practices.
7. Performance & Technical Health
- Monitor and Assist application performance and identify areas requiring optimization.
- Monitory and troubleshoot slow-running processes, batch jobs, reports, queries, and integrations.
- Ensure Application of appropriate development and database optimization techniques.
- Work with relevant technical teams to investigate infrastructure, database, or platform-related performance issues.
- Help Conduct technical housekeeping activities to maintain a stable and reliable D365 environment.
8. Data Management
- Monitor and Support data migration, data correction, and data maintenance activities using D365 Data Management Framework (DMF) and data entities.
- Develop and maintain data entities where required.
- Monitor and Assist functional teams with data-related issues and validation.
- Monitor and Support data extraction and analysis using appropriate tools while following data-security requirements.
9. Documentation & Knowledge Management
- Ensure Maintaining of up-to-date technical documentation covering:
- Customizations
- Integrations
- Reports
- Workflows
- Deployment procedures
- System administration activities
- Technical troubleshooting
- Known issues and resolutions
- Maintain a technical knowledge base to support ongoing operations and knowledge transfer.
- Ensure adequate documentation is available before and after major system changes.
10. Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration
- Work closely with Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, Functional Consultants, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and IT teams.
- Understand business requirements and provide technically feasible solutions.
- Collaborate with external vendors/implementation partners for application support, enhancements, upgrades, and complex technical issues.
- Communicate technical issues and solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Participate in requirement discussions, solution design, technical reviews, testing, and release activities
Required Technical Skills & Experience
The candidate should have strong hands-on experience in the following areas:
D365 Finance & Supply Chain Management
- 6–8 years of relevant experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O/Finance & Supply Chain Management development.
- Strong hands-on experience with X++ development.
- Experience with D365 extensions and customization framework.
- Good understanding of:

Integration & Data
- Experience with D365 integrations and APIs.
- Knowledge of OData, REST APIs, Data Entities, and DMF.
- Experience troubleshooting integration failures and data-related issues.
- Good understanding of data migration and data management processes.
Development & DevOps Tools
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Visual Studio.
- Experience with Azure DevOps for source control, work items, builds, and deployments.
- Working knowledge of SQL and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) for troubleshooting and data analysis.
Reporting
- Experience developing and supporting SSRS reports.
- Knowledge of D365 reporting capabilities and integration with reporting/BI solutions is preferred.
Administration & Support
- Experience supporting D365 users, security roles, access, batch jobs, system monitoring, and application troubleshooting.
- Experience in production support and incident/problem management.
- Experience with application upgrades, deployments, and Microsoft service updates.
- Understanding of cloud-based application environments, preferably Microsoft Azure.
Functional Knowledge
- Fair understanding of Finance and Supply Chain business processes is preferred.

Preferred Skills
- Microsoft certification(s) related to Dynamics 365 Finance, Supply Chain Management, or Power Platform.
- Experience working in a Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementation, support, or managed-services environment.
- Knowledge of Power Platform, Power Automate, Power BI, and Dataverse is an advantage.
- Experience with D365 Finance & SCM version upgrades and Microsoft One Version update cycles is preferred.
- Knowledge of performance monitoring and optimization techniques is desirable.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline preferred.
- 6–8 years of hands-on experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management development and technical support.
- Relevant Microsoft Dynamics 365 certifications are an advantage
